The Bangladesh Election Commission (EC) has opened a dedicated media centre to help journalists cover the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) election and the referendum.
Located at Hotel InterContinental Dhaka, the Media Centre will provide foreign journalists with necessary information and logistical support related to the elections. The facility will remain operational from February 9 to February 13.
Speaking on the occasion on Tuesday, Election Commission Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said the commission stands ready to assist journalists whenever required. "Through coordinated efforts, we aim to ensure accurate and responsible coverage of the forthcoming parliamentary election and referendum," he said while inaugurating the facility.
In addition, a help desk has been set up at the airport to assist foreign journalists.
Referring to challenges such as updating the voter roll and registering new political parties, Akhtar Ahmed said all arrangements for polling have been finalised.
"We are fully prepared to conduct a free and fair election. Journalists should ensure factual reporting and help prevent misinformation. There will be no unnecessary delay in announcing the results,' he added."
